Elsewhere in Germany, the AfD can try to hide behind a veneer of respectability, however threadbare. Prior to October, Thuringia was governed by a three-party coalition led by The Left Die Linke , a party that is itself an amalgam of old East German socialists and West German leftists, disaffected social democrats, and union members.
