Where to find time lost proto drake

NPCScan made camping quite fun. Now all that is gone and it's back to being pure frustration most of the time. Time-Lost Proto-Drake". I got all excited, but he was anywhere near me. This rare No sleep. Nothing spawned. The exceptions are people who came and left in less than minute, probably heading toward Ulduar, or there by passage. Do the Time-Lost and Vyragosa even really exist or is all of that some evil trolling? It is also possible to pick up the Time-Lost Proto-Drake with a simple targeting macro, but I don't recommend this method.

If you do come across the TLPD and he is in the air, you are going to need to be careful. The safest way to pull him is a body pull by just flying into him and then flying toward the nearest surface for you to fight him on.

Depending on which spawn location that he spawns at and the direction that he's flying, he could potentially be flying very high. If your afraid that someone else may tag him, it would be advisable to tag him in the air and have some method to slow your fall.

It is also possible that the TLPD will dismount you if just trying to body pull. Either way, have something to slow your fall. An easy one to get very close by is Snowfall Lager which is purchasable by both horde and alliance from two different vendors in the Storm Peaks for the cost of only two Relics of Ulduar.

I went nuts when my macro hit.. I'm a rogue so i made sure i had auto dismount enabled Well worth the time spent searching.. It is awesome showing it off! Comment by As promised, seen twice in a period of less than two weeks, in the same location Give or take 30 yards. Fire elemental totems, Glyphed evocation etc.

Like other drakes, he loves to stand ontop of you, so you have trouble attacking him. He also teleports behind you too. While an 'easy' kill its very easy to get flustered and forget how to do anything.

I have camped this drake for a very long time, and I can tell you, stay in the western half of stormpeaks. Eastern half is not worth your time. Comment by I finally managed to get my hands on this baby. I've been following this thread and did some math myself, heres what I think. I killed Varygosa yesterday around 10pm. This morning I killed the proto drake at 8am.

For me this sounds like some linked 10h respawn timer. But, I think a steady respawn timer would be too easy to farm so heres what I guess: I found a dead proto drake at 7pm one evening, exactly 27h later I killed Varygosa. Giving the 9 h average respawn and the 10h confirmed respawn I would suggest, that Varygosa and de Proto Drake share a hour respawn timer. I will actually try to check my hypothesis this evening, seeing if I can find Varygosa or the protodrake between 8 and 10h after I killed him this morning.

If my work doesn't interfere, I will post you some further results. Comment by Is he flying or walking? Comment by Apparently you ran into the same little incident I did, Vyragosa being killed at the blue proto drakes and then finding someone with the TLPD as if Vyragosa dropped it.

Its very fishy indeed. I am finding more and more TLPD owners are people you never seen before, do not know, and such including seeing alot of people not even level 80 and on alts searching for this thing which is very odd. The thought that they are a placeholder for them is absurd.

Such a high profile area would have attracted much attention. It would have been spammed in chat if anyone had found the body or anything. Even as my drake hit the ground dead , within 30 seconds I had people in general saying that it had spawned. Comment by silverd Just wanna ask since I haven't seen any discussion on this.

How does this thing fight? I'm only asking because I managed to tag Vyragosa a few minutes ago but unfortunately I'm a warrior he just stayed at range and kept using frost breath on me.

Does the Time-Lost come down once you tag it? Or are there any tricks to get it to go to you if you're melee? Comment by Food for thought: Scanned the server caches with the macro of two large EU servers for almost two weeks, and the TLPD didn't show up on either. Today, the macro reported the first mount drop on one server, and a short time later on the other.

It might well be that the TLPD spawns on selected servers, and then for longer period not. It could be an anti-camping measure to frustrate the nerds. Comment by The proto-drake mob moves pretty quickly, took 2 or more minutes to catch up with crusader aura on when riding a slow flying mount.

Been camping for him for a few days now and was on my way back out to continue camping and my macro went off, tagged him and down he went.

Comment by thrallsmellsfuny does anyone thinks a balance druid could solo him? Comment by Well I got this mount after a about 8 hours of looking.

There is a little trick I would like to share. I have read everyones comments, and filtered out what I thought was crap. First, there can only be two rare elites up at any given time in Northrend. What you got to do is set your hearth in storm peaks, get locations of the known spawns of all rare elites in northrend, and make sure you kill them, or that someone does.

After you kill one or you know for sure one has been killed hearth back and camp for the time lost. Even if you find Vyra dead, a time lost could show up on the next spawn. The spawn time for rare elites seems to be 30 min, hence how long the body stays there for. Could I have just gotten lucky? I don't think so because I just helped a friend get it also. Now I will share my info since I'm done looking for this thing. Comment by First, there can only be two rare elites up at any given time in Northrend.

Comment by Just killed him, just unde Temple Of storms, in the canyon. When i saw him, he was pretty high in the air, and i thought he will never follow me till the ground, but around that canyon, there is like little spots where mobs are, somekinda dwarves, and i just kited him till that spot.

It was about 2. Comment by First of all, sorry about my english. You can say "hey, they share spawn times" but i think the only fact is that they share paths.

Why do i say this? I asked a gm about this dragon and he told me "he does have an extreme low respawn time" meaning that he is not up for much time. He spawns, does his rute or whatever and just despawn if no one kills him. Dirkdee was up at the same time i killed him, so they do not share nothing. I did some of the paths for like 1 hour and at my macro tagged him.

I hope this help you guys trying to get this mount. Comment by I agree I have camped him for 42 straight hours without leaving Storm Peaks and didnt see anything. I have camped in total about hours and have yet to see a corpse I am going to guess that it is a GM spawn and casual players tend to get it a lot more than people camping it.

Comment by Ungr I agree with Shaas. I've spent as much time and not even seen a single of the rare elites in SP. The trick is to be patient and keep researching spawn locations and spawn times. If it wasn't so rare the drop wouldn't be a flying mount, guaranteed.

You think you know but you really don't. Trust me Mulder, just be patient and you will get it :. Comment by Sashiria My macro went off for the TLPD at about ish pm server time, Drenden server, coords were 37,42, by the library. Unfortunately, someone else killed it, but at I did see it's dead corpse. The macro actually went off when I was in Bor's by the harpies, which surprised me, I flew around looking for it, never guessing it was by the Terrace.

The macro for the dropped reins, above, works, cuz as soon as it was looted, the item description came up, instead of the "retrieving item info" box.

Comment by so i found this drake and when i started killing him and like 40 horde people surrounded me and killed me and i never saw it again. In patch 3. Comment by rpmarens Gratz. What is your inventory addon? Comment by I'm pretty sure you're wrong about the 2 rares at a time thing.

From what I've read from people working on the Frostbitten achievement, which is to kill every rare spawn, 5 rares spawn when the server resets, and more spawn at set intervals after that. I can also say that I've found 4 rares in 20 minutes, making it highly unlikely that only 2 are up at a time. Comment by Quick question for anyone I get the message, "Shift click this to place a link into a chat message: Now, when I click on this, it shows up, saying, "This is a very fast mount, yada yada.

Now, when I log onto my laptop, and do this same thing, when I paste and get the message, ""Shift click this to place a link into a chat message: ", and actually click on the link Why is it different between my two computers? Do both of these indicate that the mount hasn't dropped and thus TLPD hasn't spawned since the server came back up on Tuesday?

Thanks in advance, and good luck in your hunt. Comment by I do belive that Vyragosa and Time-lost shares spawn timers. Because: 1. It would add to the randomness. They share paths and spawnpoints. I have no report of them being alive at the same time.

They are both dragons. One of them is blue, the other one is yellow Camping one of the three spawnpoints nonstop would therefor give an avarage time of hours 10,5 days camping before a TLPD would spawn at your spot. Not too shabby numbers tbh. The only thing you can really say about this mount, is that either the lottery-lucky or the donkey-stubborn will get it.

Up to Comment by Good news guys! I found this map from Wowwiki! Happy hunting! Comment by Dariosarimento Is he flying clockwise or counter-clockwise? Comment by zzsdkzz I doubt this is relevant in any way, but while doing my normal sounds of TLPD hunting, I noticed that there are brown discs along his patrol. There is one Bor's Breath, coords 34, There is one by the Blue drakes , close to Brun. Village, and there is one up in the Ulduar area..

All very far apart, all apart of seperate patrols that the drake has been known to have. Can anyone confirm or disprove that other discs exist in other areas? Again, I'm sure this is nothing, but I just found it odd. Comment by relias its kinda interesting this Comment by I would think it is since its similar to botting, especially if you logged in all night without being kicked due to inactivity. Comment by I don't know about the G11, but on the n52te, under the macro editor, you set the key to repeat.

In this case, I had it repeat until another key is pressed, with a ms delay. You could do pretty much the same thing by using speedkeys in windows and taping a key down. No, I have not been banned, and from my understanding, it is not a bannable offense. This is a hardware feature, not third party program that controls your character for you.

I still had to do the work, and did not influence anyone else's game experience, nor gain any unfair advantage. If it were moving you, tracking the mob, killing and looting it for you without you sitting at the keyboard, that would be a bannable offense.

Of course, this is just my experience and interpretation. Take it however you will. Comment by I never knew Mankrik's wife had a pet. I'm casting 2 instant dots so that I tag it when I target it if I'm close enough and sacrifice VW so that I have time to get to my computer and turn off Autohotkey without the proto drake killing me. I have tried this on other mobs and it works. Hope this helps Edit: I use this script in Autohotkey www. This means that I have put my macro at actionbutton 3.

You can put your macro anywhere just bind the key and change the Send in Autohotkey. And you can also change the activation button to whatever you what.

I use h since I never use that when I play. Hope this made some sense anyway.. Comment by Found and killed at Bor's Breath flying toward Valkyrion. It's an extremely easy kill, with one round of dots and one shadow bold the mob was dead. It dropped the mount, 18 gold and a blue neck piece. Over here!

I was searching for Vyra, so I was grouped pretty often. Caliente is a mage that kept sneaking up from time to time to knock people off their mounts, so I added him to the macro. Came in handy Comment by Kolaholisti Game master told me that according to its name it really is "Time-Lost" and isn't always in current time. Also it does have long spawn time Heard someone saying it has low spawn time. Comment by pipodeclown I've been camping the Drake from halfway in december.

I decided to get my revenge no mather what. A few weeks went by using the same routine and I realised I was incredibly lucky the first time.

So I tried assingning a macro button to my nostromo to make it more easy. Soon after that I had my laptop hitting my macro while asleep.

Finaly my girlfriend woke me up because of the noise my laptop made. I killed it at 5 in the morning at bor's breath I think that if you got it the normal way you are extremely lucky. Comment by Trusler I started casually looking for him today. I spend time idling while I'm in LFG, and now I spend it sitting at the frozen lake around 30,65 based on what folks have posted.

Every now and then I do a loop around the mountain, past the engine, past Ulduar, back to frozen lake. I made a macro to target TLPD. I was flying from Dalaran to Grom'arsh to do HoS. While we're waiting for a group member I do a loop around the mountain. As I come up on the blue drakes by the engine my macro fires off the RW, but alas, someone else already had him tagged. Good luck and happy hunting! Comment by Fritz i met a guy who was attempting to spawn-camp this thing.

He also told me that he only slept when the dragon with its shared CD died. Comment by More info, Killed Vyragosa 3 times today. I have not quite understood the kill though since it was far from 20 and 50 minute mark. I can only assume he was roaming around SP for 24 mins. Could of possibly been a spawn in between and mark since it was server maint day. What I need to research further on is the 3rd and possible 4th spawn points, I know Bors Breath and Brunnhildar village is 2, but I am certain one exist some where around Ulduar or north of Valkyrion, and one possibly exist south of the water fall leading into Bors breath or might be be a spawn path near K3, uncertain of the exact spawn point.

Comment by Neves This is just pure theory, i wanna stress that, but could the spawns be based on random generators? I would consider myself unlucky at this point. I have about hours into this camp over the last 1. All of my waking time, sleeping right after Vyr kills. I have a partner roaming making sure we don't miss a kill as well.

Comment by I need to ask about something I hobe you guys can give me a answere becaus i really want that drake :! Comment by The timed-lost proto-drake has a spawn rate shared with the rare spawn Vyragosa. The mob has about 18K health and can be easily soloed. If you wanna go on lookout for him i suggest you patrol certain points, start in the footsteps, fly to engine of the makers, fly down through brunnhildar village.

Does the corpse despawn after 30 mins much like Vyragosa? Comment by Sashiria Can you re-post the macro that is supposed to link the reins? I'm thinking something changed in WOW, as the Retrieving Information box has been up constantly for me since last Tuesday, and now I am not able to place the reins into a chat window.

Is anyone else having this problem? Comment by Well my experience with this drake is, I question why does it get killed the moment it spawns in early morning hours when it does spawn but Vyragosa can be up for 20 mins at a time? It seems the last 10 weeks of looking into this with extensive research and camping has yielded with my link script going off as being used or looted however the script works with no tall tale signs of TLPD corpse ever being found, one instance TLPD link showed up after a vyragosa kill.

I have only seen a TLPD corpse once and it seems everyone who does obtain this mount vanishes from the face of the game. I know this because I have kept track of who has gotten it, seems it either a bunch of alts or people who vanish from the game entirely. Latest incident in which TLPD was killed yielded no corpse, no one around SP flying around with the mount, nor anyone in Dalaran coming in with it.

Comment by Shinryoku Okay, I figure for the benefit of everyone I'll keep a daily update about my adventures into finding this drake. I started officially looking on Thursday March Each time I saw Vyra and was then downed at around 28, Also, according to that macro that retrieves item information, the mount has not dropped. Combined I'd say I spent atleast 16 hours looking I'll keep this updated. If it goes by what has been previously stated he has been killed and looted, but I have no idea where his corpse is.

I followed him around twice only the second route is in the video , he seemed to phase out at the end of Garm both times, and reappear a few moments later, ascending back towards Brunnhildar.

Comment by Majiktusk I have a question, does one of the drakes spawn after server resets like the books do? Comment by While this may possibly be true, it just seems way, way, way out there.

It would be ridiculous that Blizzard would have an npc that drops a mount purposely spawn to players who don't log on much, for no reason other than an incentive to be a less than casual player. But in any case, I know of two people on my server that have TLPD and they're on all the time like literally , they're also in the same guild.

Just yesterday I saw another player sitting in Dalaran with the drake, not sure if he just got it that day though. I do agree that the 20 and 50 minute time seems fishy, as some people have mentioned this before - many people have found TLPD around these times too. I'll try to take note of when people log on at spawn points as of now. I didn't check the macro during the 9 hours if TLPD was looted forgot to spam it! So he really could have been killed any time in those 9 hours.

I know that doesn't say much or anything new, but it's something. Comment by Well its not like every less then casual player will obtain it, if it will spawn nearest to one and they may miss it or someone who is hardcore may end up tagging it first.

You'd assume they would show it off, but that's just not the case it seems. Maybe they have other things to do than sit in Dalaran. I know I wouldn't sit there to show it off because I don't care about other people seeing it - I find those that do it just want their 15 seconds of fame because they have something "special. Though I can't explain why you don't find the corpse, since it's been said it despawns in 30 minutes I know Vyragosa does, watched it despawn and cannot be skinned apparently - not sure if that's true unlike Vyragosa , you should be able to find it somewhere in those 30 minutes.

For the reason you can't find anyone on it, Storm Peaks is huge. Comment by You would be showing it off only until you got constant whispers from players all over your server and level 1's from alternate faction players assuming you are on a PvE server.. Personally I'd tell a few guildies and tell them to not tell anyone else, cause I don't want to have to get a character name change.

Comment by Just one question.. What does this script do Comment by There seem to be like four different patrol paths, what's the exact points? Wowhead only shows 1. And for clarification, the "Retrieving Item Information" means he's not been killed and looted since the Maintence, right? Comment by Skyfire There is a bunch of info listed at the item page that people will probably find useful, insofar as a lot of stuff not on this comments page can be found there.

Comment by ragex 15 mins ago i tried that script to see if it had been looted , i wasnt able to click it or link it in guild or any kind of chant, but i tried 5 mins ago and it works. Comment by you can wait for hours on end trying to get this mount, or you can do heroics with the wyrmrest accord to get exalted and buy the red drake, or you can run CoS to get the bronze drake.

Both of them get you rep. BTW I have this mount :P. Comment by So, if i saw tlpd get killed Or how does the respawntimer work? I took a break to eat because I was hungry I came back my friends told me that they saw Time lost dead It was only 2h diffrence. Comment by What macros is everyone using to spam while camping for it?

Comment by calibad Ok So let's break this down to some simple facts now that we know so much. They spawn in up to 10 different location such as the 2 frozen waterfalls in Bor's Breath, multiple places in the field of blue protos near Engine of the Makers, and a spot Northwest of Valkyrion. Now with all that said.. Who's getting the mount? The stationary camper at one spawn point, the person following the paths on a wild goose chase all voer Storm Peaks, or the random lucky person who doesn't even know what the that yellow thing is in the air?

I think this depends on activity on the server. Higher population servers are more likely to have the random person come across while doing one of the many dailies in SP.

I think next would be the camper but that's all about patience and luck of the spawn point. The person on the chase is just going to waste his time as while you are moving someone else is going to grab him across the zone.

Lower population is a whole different story though. A chaser that knows all the exact spawn points probably has the best chance here as you are always watching your screen and have a better chance of the spawn escaping the exact spawn area and getting on his path. The camper is again about luck and hoping your either in a good cross section for multiple paths ie Bor's Breath or he spawns on top of you.

And of course with less people you have less unknown people coming across him. Comment by calibad Ok well I have personally seen the TLPD corpse 4 times and it will stay there for a half hour and cannot be skinned. My theory on spawning after server reset is basically the server was down for more than the spawn timer, nothing was able ro spawn, so it will spawn randomly after server restart, I too have noticed corpses within hours of most restarts, not immediatly after though.

Comment by I finally got it! I targetted him over Valkyrion as he was flying through a little passage heading for Snowdrift Plains and finally down him around 27, Hope that helps! Comment by Rayner Is this guy solo-able? I'm currently questing in the zone and If I see the guy I would want to kill him to get the mount based on how rare the spawn is But I'm not a group person :p.

Comment by I am going to start questioning if Dirkee shares a spawn with Vyra and TLPD, from what researching I have done when its about time for Vyra or TLPD to spawn, Dirkee will spawn, including with it being on the 20 and 50 min points as well. Comment by So, let's break this down into some real facts.

In classic WoW content, rare spawns are more random. There are anywhere from 1 to 30 per zone. They have different minimum and maximum times in which they spawn, starting from the time of kill. However, the spawn timer is set for each mob, and it is guaranteed to spawn some time within its range. There are 1 to 4 spawn points per rare spawn. The Wowhead Client is a little application we use to keep our database up to date, and to provide you with some nifty extra functionality on the website!

You can also use it to keep track of your completed quests, recipes, mounts, companion pets, and titles! This site makes extensive use of JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript in your browser. Live PTR. Classic TBC. Report Links. Table of Contents Quick Facts. Recent Changes 8. This enrage spell cannot be dispelled, immuned, or avoided otherwise.

He can ONLY be body-pulled with a yard maximum leash range, a fraction of his prior leash-length. All group members should be in-group and within range of the rare before he is engaged in combat. Spawn gif for all four locations. A few of the rarest creatures in Azeroth again can only be looted by the first group to engage them.

Comments Comment by DeadlyBanana Very insightful guide! One question. Do we have an average of the targeting range for Vyra and Proto? If you fly the route you showed, is there no risk you will fly past an already spawned drake that is patrolling mid-way and not be close enough to target it? Comment by Icrashdump So what is it with the tagging? Aren't you sharing loot in a group anyway? Is that really nessesary? I mean I'm about to group up with random people I never met.

I'm probably better off alone? I about woke my kids up! I chase mounts Good luck all! Comment by Meghan This was extremely helpful, and goes right into the point. Thanks to this guide, I was able to finally get the Time-Lost drake. I flew right into him. Best of luck to all. Argent Dawn EU: morning time. Comment by gogatorsfwb Anyone know if the macro still works in 8.

Other rare spawns may not re-appear for many hours or days. TLPD is a rare spawn that typically only spawns every few hours. I will go over his spawn times later, but you should be prepared to spend quite a bit of time waiting for him to spawn if you intend on camping alone. With some of the recent changes to the game, it has become possible to camp rare spawns in a group, saving you a bit of time.

Mount collectors will form small groups to sit at each spawn point and then gather together once the rare has spawned. So, when you are ready to start your hunt, be sure to check out the LFG tool and search for a group that is currently camping the TLPD. If you or your party is out of range when the rare dies, you will not be able to get your loot, so be careful! So, when he dies, it would take a minimum of six hours for him to spawn again. In Cataclysm , Blizzard made the wait time much shorter.

He can now spawn as quickly as 30 minutes after his, or Vyragosa's, death. Vyragosa is a rare blue drake that shares a spawn with the TLPD.

This means that when it is time for one of the dragons to spawn, there's a big chance that Vyragosa spawns and a small chance that it'll be the TLPD. Be sure to always kill Vyragosa, because your prey cannot spawn if Vyragosa is alive. NPCscan is an add-on that used to alert you when a rare mob was within targeting distance, whether or not you have even attempted to target the mob.

However, Blizzard has changed the way that mobs are cached in the game. This essentially means that the only way to gain benefit from NPCscan is to make sure your mouse is constantly hovering on the exact spot that the TLPD will be located when he spawns. Make a macro and spam it while camping. You want it to target the rare and then have it cast a spell to pull. Typically you would want it to be an instant cast spell.

Please note that if you are camping in a group, you do not want the spell to kill the drake since you will want to wait on your team members to get in range before it dies. I would recommend putting taunt in your macro to pull without dealing damage. When TLPD spawns, if he is not killed right away, he will begin flying along his predetermined route.

There are four different places in Storm Peaks from which he can spawn, meaning there are four different routes he can take. After he spawns he will randomly choose whether he goes clockwise on his route, or counter clockwise. The black star represents the Spawn point. This player typically plans on stealing the kill away from the person who was at the spot first. With Cross-Realm Zones, this is sometimes unavoidable, as there are so many players camping at any given time.

Usually, you will try to group up with these people, but since now only five people can loot the mount, you may still run into stackers from outside your group.

For example, if I were to go to a spawn point and a couple of hours later another player comes along to sit next to me and not move, they are stacking. This player is most likely going to try to take the kill away from me. The fight itself is very easy. He flies moderately high in the air, so you may have to try and lure him to the ground to attack him. Some players use Snowfall Lager; however, I never got around to using it because I play a priest and could just levitate myself.

I just want to clarify with some of the new loot system changes if you are in a party of 5 and you kill Time-Lost and everyone is near you everyone does indeed can get the mount i just wanted to throw that out there. I just wanted to post and say your guide was very informative. I started camping seriously 4 nights ago and have camped pretty dedicated most days while doing other stuff on monitor.

I got the drake at waterfall and was lucky to snag it as it spawned basically. I managed to do this on Nightfall battlegroup which is a hugely populated CRZ so there is hope. I was in full PvP gear which made it easier to swat away annoying Horde and let me be.

I used a very similar strategy of waiting on the spawn locations and timings. Best thing is to make nice with the other faction mates camping and see whos on each time you are.
